It was magical day at the plate for the Tigers Jeff Ellsbu. The 22-year-old third baseman helped lift Lakeland to a 24-4 win over the Vero Beach Dodgers today at Roughriders Ballpark. Ellsbu smacked 5 hits in 6 at-bats to spark his club to victory.
J. Ellsbu doubled in the 1st, singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, walked in the 6th, flied out in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
In 2009 Ellsbu is batting .300 with 51 hits, 2 home runs, 10 RBIs, 12 walks, .350 OBP and has scored 33 runs. He has played in 39 games. |

Paul Maholm of the Kissimmee Cobras mixed his pitches well and fashioned a 8-0 shutout today. The 26-year-old hurler shut down the Vero Beach offense, holding them to 1 hit. He struck out 3 while walking 0.
To this point in the season Maholm has 6 wins and no losses and a 0.38 ERA. |

"It was just one of those games, when everything went right. I threw a lot of strikes," Scott Olsen said. "And the pitches they did get to hit, they didn't do anything with them."
The Las Vegas Stars pitcher really got it done in his 9-0 shutout victory over the Albuquerque Dukes, shutting them down on 5 hits. Olsen issued 1 walk and had 7 strikeouts.
