Michael Norris made quick work of Iowa, blanking the Cubs 4-0 at Baton Rouge Grounds today. The Edmonton pitcher limited them to 6 hits to earn the victory. Norris fanned 10 and walked 1.

| Saturday, May 24th, 2008: Rico Bewilders Cubs
"I had everything working for me out there. I used every one of my pitches, hit both sides of the plate really well and felt like I could do whatever I wanted."
With stuff like that, it was easy for César Rico of the Trappers to handcuff the Cubs 8-0 and come away with a complete-game 5-hit shutout. He recorded 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in an impressive performance.
So far this season Rico has 4 wins and 5 losses and a 4.45 ERA. |

Jeff Johnson of the Tacoma Rainiers whitewashed the Edmonton Trappers 9-0 in a complete-game win, limiting them to 5 hits while chalking up 3 strikeouts and giving up 1 walk.
Talking to BNN writers after the game, his manager said, "He's got the makeup. He's not afraid to challenge guys. Jeff is pretty poised out there. He knows how to pitch and how to use his stuff."
So far this year Johnson has compiled a 4-3 record with a 3.03 ERA. |
