Monday, June 16th, 2008: TEX Star of the Week Chosen
Rex Wells must have thought he was in seventh heaven this week. First he went on a sensational hitting spree, belting the ball at a .471 pace, then the Wichita second baseman finds outs he has been selected the top performer and gets the TEX Player of the Week Award.

Asked what his hitting philosophy was, Wells quipped to the BNN reporters, "Well, my theory of hitting is to just watch the ball as it comes in and hit it."

It was a good week's work for Wells. He hit .471 average (16-34) with no home runs and 6 RBIs.

So far this season Wells has hit .308 with 1 home run, 30 RBIs and and scored 35 times.
Monday, June 9th, 2008: García Razor-Sharp, Shuts out Arkansas
El Paso starter Francisco García really did a number on the Travelers today, shutting them out 4-0 on 1 hit in a complete game victory. He issued no walks and had 10 strikeouts.

In his postgame comments, the Arkansas manager said, "We didn't have good at-bats. I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting... seeing as our team has a bunch of pretty good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Francisco... he did an outstanding job today."

In 13 starts this year García has posted 7 wins while suffering 3 losses. He has pitched 88 innings, allowed 67 hits, struck out 80 and has a 2.97 ERA.
Monday, June 9th, 2008: TEX Player of the Week Selected
This week TEX pitching was a feast fit for a king and Héctor Sánchez really made the most of it -- ripping them royally. The talented Mobile hitting machine produced a .467 batting average, 3 home runs, 14 hits in 30 at-bats, 14 RBIs and 7 runs.

That kind of hitting earned him the TEX Player of the Week honors.

In 2008 Sánchez has put up a .391 batting average with 81 hits, 10 home runs and 43 RBIs.
