In a sharp 3-hit performance, Evan Anundsen tossed the Huntsville Stars to a 2-0 shutout victory over the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, fanning 2 and walking 0.
"That's as good a stuff as I've seen in a long time," the West Tenn manager said in his postgame interview.
In 19 starts this season Anundsen has fashioned a 5-8 record and a 3.89 ERA. |
 | Monday, July 26th, 2010: Vitters Takes This Week's Trophy
Josh Vitters must have thought he died and went to heaven this week. First he went on a remarkable batting rampage, hammering the ball at a .478 clip, then the Tennessee third baseman finds outs he has been voted the league's top performer and gets the SL Player of the Week Award.
For the week Vitters batted .478 (11-23) with 4 home runs and 9 RBIs.
This season Vitters is swinging the bat at a .283 pace. He has hit 22 home runs and scored 60 times, while driving in 67. His on-base percentage is .374 and he has played in 100 games. |
 | Sunday, July 25th, 2010: Bay Bears Lose Harbin for Season
The doctors have spoken and Taylor Harbin of the Mobile Bay Bears didn't like what he heard. The 24-year-old second baseman is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Harbin sustained his season-ending injury during the Huntsville Stars game yesterday at Hank Aaron Stadium. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing the ball. Today the Mobile medical staff reported Harbin had back spasms and would be absent from the lineup for at least 7 months.
For the year Harbin is batting .284 with 109 hits and 11 home runs. He has scored 38 times and driven in 53. |
