| Breaking News |  | Friday, September 18th, 1998: Lombard SL2 Selection for 1998 Outstanding Hitter Award
George Lombard was hitting on all cylinders in 1998, making Danville a very happy organization. He put up some solid numbers this year and was awarded the Sub League 2's Outstanding Hitter Award today.
The right fielder piled up 171 hits, 35 doubles, 5 triples, 12 home runs and 89 RBI on the way to crafting a .360 batting average.

The Sub League 1 Outstanding Hitter Award has been picked for 1998 and the winner is Tulsa right fielder Benny Agbayani.
He finished his outstanding season with a .457 batting average, 199 hits, 26 home runs, 131 RBIs, .543 OBP and 94 runs scored.

 | Thursday, September 17th, 1998: SL2 Presents Outstanding Pitcher Trophy
The #1 pitcher in the Sub League 2 this season was Norman Wells reliever Mike Johnson. He won the league's Outstanding Pitcher Award for 1998 by saving 33 games.
Johnson also had 2 wins and 5 losses in 48 appearances. He posted 26 strikeouts and 12 walks in 48 innings, permitted 35 base hits and compiled a 2.63 ERA.
